Is your trust in yourself?
Proverbs 3:5 (KJV) Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
Isaiah 55:8-9 (KJV) For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. 9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.
In regards to salvation ...
Ephesians 2:8-9 (KJV) For by grace are ye saved through faith(Christ's faith); and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
We cannot do anything to get ourselves saved, God does all the work of saving His elect ...
Galatians 2:16 (KJV) Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.
God saves His elect through the hearing of His Word ...
Romans 10:17 (KJV) So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
The will of man plays no part in salvation
John 1:12-13 (KJV) But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
Don't forget to read verse 13 ....
13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
God elected those whom He would save
Ephesians 1:4-5 (KJV) According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: 5 Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,
Romans 9:15-16 (KJV) For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion. 16 So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy.
Matthew 22:14 (KJV) For many are called, but few are chosen.
Luke 18:9-14 (KJV) ¶ And he spake this parable unto certain which trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others: 10 Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican. 11 The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican. 12 I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess. 13 And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner. 14 I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.
Is your trust in (a) man? Or in a man made set of beliefs or religion?
Psalms 118:8 (KJV) It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man.
Romans 3:4 (KJV) God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged.
Is your trust in the churches?
Revelation 18:4 (KJV) And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.
God Has revealed in His Word through careful Bible study by comparing spiritual things with spiritual that at this time the elect (who are the body of Christ, the eternal Church) are to depart from the earthly churches which have now come under God's judgment because of their apostasy (falling away), He has left them and they are now desolate.
God in parabolic language (as all the Bible is in) likens the churches to many things in the Bible such as the Temple, Shiloh, Israel, Judah, Jerusalem, Babylon etc..
Just as God had done away with the synagogues (assemblies) so has He done away with the churches (assemblies) of today.
Jeremiah 7:4 (LITV) Do not trust yourself to lying words, saying, The temple of Jehovah! The temple of Jehovah! This is the temple of Jehovah!
Jeremiah 7:12-14 (LITV) But go now to My place which was in Shiloh, where I made My name dwell at the first, and see what I did to it for the evil of My people Israel. 13 And now, because you have done all these works, says Jehovah, and I spoke to you, rising up early and speaking, but you did not hear. Yea, I called you, but you did not answer. 14 And I will do to the house on which My name is called, in which you are trusting, and to the place which I gave to you and to your fathers, as I have done to Shiloh.
Psalms 78:58-60 (KJV) For they provoked him to anger with their high places, and moved him to jealousy with their graven images. 59 When God heard this, he was wroth, and greatly abhorred Israel: 60 So that he forsook the tabernacle of Shiloh, the tent which he placed among men;
Isaiah 42:17 (KJV) They shall be turned back, they shall be greatly ashamed, that trust in graven images, that say to the molten images, Ye are our gods.
Deuteronomy 32:36-37 (KJV) For the LORD shall judge his people, and repent himself for his servants, when he seeth that their power is gone, and there is none shut up, or left. 37 And he shall say, Where are their gods, their rock in whom they trusted,
Deuteronomy 32:31-32 (KJV) For their rock is not as our Rock, even our enemies themselves being judges. 32 For their vine is of the vine of Sodom, and of the fields of Gomorrah: their grapes are grapes of gall, their clusters are bitter:
2 Corinthians 11:4 (KJV) For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him.
Who should our trust be in?
Our trust should be in the Word of God alone!
Proverbs 3:5-7 (KJV) Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. 6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. 7 ¶ Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.
Psalms 119:42(KJV) So shall I have wherewith to answer him that reproacheth me: for I trust in thy word.
2 Corinthians 1:9(KJV) But we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God which raiseth the dead:
How does God command us to study His Word?
1 Corinthians 2:13 (KJV) Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.
Romans 7:14 (KJV) ¶ For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin.
2 Peter 1:20 (KJV) Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation<1955>.
Strong's number 1955 epilusiv epilusis ep-il’-oo-sis from 1956 *
Mark 4:34 (KJV) But without a parable spake he not unto them: and when they were alone, he expounded <1956> all things to his disciples.
We Must let God define His own terms by comparing spiritual things with spiritual and then it is up to God whether we will understand anything in His Word or not
Proverbs 20:12 (KJV) ¶ The hearing ear, and the seeing eye, the LORD hath made even both of them.
Psalms 119:18 (KJV) ¶ Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law.
The Word of God is God
John 1:1 (KJV) ¶ In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
John 1:14 (KJV) And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
John 6:63 (KJV) It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.
John 4:24 (KJV) God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
John 17:17 (KJV) ¶ Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.
John 14:6 (KJV) Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
1 Thessalonians 2:13 ¶ For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.
Ruth 2:12 The LORD recompense thy work, and a full reward be given thee of the LORD God of Israel, under whose wings thou art come to trust.

Psalm 18:2 The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.

Psalm 91:2 I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.
